===== Information for Users ("READ-ME") ================
This package contains Grammar Slammer (Version 1.0), by James Bair.
This document contains only a brief description of the package and its
features, along with instructions for its installation. More detailed
documentation is included in the package, but it is in archived form, and
is more easily read after installation.
If you have ever wanted grammar information at your fingertips, if you
wanted to answer those questions that grammar checkers ask you, if you
just are not sure where the comma goes...then Grammar Slammer is for
you. It goes beyond a checker and is far easier than an online grammar
book. It will slam your grammar agony!
Grammar Slammer is a shareware program. This evaluation version includes
all features of the program, and is not crippled in any way. You may
use it for up to 30 days, without charge (see GSW4W.TXT for more
details). If you like the program, and wish to continue its use after
this evaluation period, you are required to pay for the program (see
GSW4W.TXT for more details). Any fee you may have paid to others
(disk vendors, dealers, etc.) to obtain this evaluation version was a
fee for their copying and distribution services, rather than a payment
for continued use of the program.

===== Installation =====================================
First create the directory C:\GRAMSLAM. Then copy the file GRAMDEMO.HLP
to that directory. If you copy it to another directory, you will have
to change the directory name in your macro. You may also want to copy
the icon GRAMSLAM.ICO to this directory or to the directory that you
normally keep your icons in.
The two files ending in the suffix .CLP contain the macros to use.
Load whichever one you want to use to the clipboard and then begin
MS Word. Install it as you would any MS Word Macro. For more specific
instructions on how to do this, see the GSW4W.TXT file.
===== Running GRAMMAR SLAMMER========================================
To Run GRAMMAR SLAMMER you have six choices: 1) Run it from
the "Run Macro" routine from the menu, 2) Add it to the MS Word
Menu and then click on the menu choice when you want to run it,
3) Add the GRAMSLAM.BMP to the toolbar and then click on the
Grammar Slammar icon when you want it to appear, 4) Assign
a "shortcut key" to the GRAMMAR SLAMMER macro and use that
key combination to get GRAMMAR SLAMMER to run, 5) Run it
from a mimimized icon which loads each time you run MS Word for Windows
or a specific document or template, or 6) Run it from a regular
Windows icon in one of the Program Manager Windows.
These choices depend on which method or methods of MS Word for Windows
macro installation you chose.

Contents of VENDOR.TXT/BBSINFO.TXT:
This file contains our distribution policy and information on all our
products. We have a simple distribution policy: You have permission to
distribute our shareware in its original, unaltered form as long as you
1) Identify it as shareware (with an appropriate definition)
2) Leave all intellectual property and copyright notices in place
....and as long as we do not request you to stop.
You may archive our programs, unarchive them, include/exclude optional
files (like this VENDOR.TXT file), include them with other programs on
the same diskette, and do essentially anything you want as long as you
respect the integrity of the program and all copyright laws, even if you
may not be subject to them. We want the widest possible distribution,
and we do notwant to stand in your way so long as you are honest with our
mutual customer.
If you are distributing in vending rack or point-of-purchase sales,
please request our permission. This is the only area which it seems that
customers do not understand shareware. ASP, ESC, Walnut Creek, Simtel,
Garbo, Winsite, SICS, PC-SIG, Washington State, STAR, Way Cool, Bongo,
EMS, APCUG, PC-related periodical, and Night Owl collections are
pre-authorized to include our programs on CD-ROM.
This is our normal distribution sequence:
1. New versions are offered to our registered users and distributed to
all users who have registered within a year of the release date.
2. New versions are posted on CompuServe (use IBMFF with ID 70730,3001).
3. New versions are released through SDNet. If you have a BBS and do not
belong to SDNet, please consider joining this international network.
4. All ASP and ESC distribution members are included in the regular ASP
and ESC CD-ROM. This saves us both time and money. If you are not an ASP
vendor member or bulletin board member, please consider joining. If you
work a lot with educational materials, consider joining the ESC
(Educational Software Cooperative).
5. We also send copies of major revisions of our software to vendors and
bulletin boards who have notified us of their interest. If you are a
catalog house, please send us a catalog or copy of your distribution
diskette. We will be glad to keep you updated. We also provide updates
to all distributors who are named by registered usersas their source. If
you are on the ASP, ESC, or SDN distributions, this may not be necessary
and would save both of us a little time.
If you have any questions, concerns, or complaints, please contact me:

===== About VENDINFO Files =============================
Each VENDINFO.DIZ file contains extensive information about a product.
This "human-readable" section is followed by a compressed data record
useable by automated tools. The data record allows BBSes and other
distributors to automate package handling, and provides users with a
wealth of product information. VENDINFO tools (free viewer for users,
free or inexpensive processors for distributors, editors for authors)
are available from many BBSes, disk vendors, and other sources.
